All Things End, part II

As A Tangled Skein has put itself in the hands of a professional liquidator, there was no point in keeping it quiet(ish) - despite the announcement email saying that it would be a while before they told the public, by the time I got there the store was coated in hot pink signs telling the world to come strip it bare.

The knitters responded - the line was at one point over two hours long. Yet much of what I'd hoped to get was already gone - the comfy chairs had been claimed and removed; even the puppy snips were long gone. I picked up some back issue magazines for a buck, plus some Remix and... I forget the name of it, it's cotton, silk, bamboo sock yarn.

Knit Night is supposedly going to continue as long as the shop is open; nobody knows how long that is. There is discussion of moving the classes to Greenbelt Arts and the knitting circle to either St. Andrews, Franklins, or Busboys and Poets.

I foresee a time when Stitches East become the new MediaWest - the one time a year that I save up and travel long to talk to, learn from, and buy boatloads of stuff from people like me. Ironic that my once-hidden subculture is now bursting from TV through YouTube, but yarn is moving further and further away.

ChicagoTardis has a stitch and bitch too, usually up against the for-pay banquet. Not to mention the informal one that tends to form every morning in the lobby.
