An out gay man ran a website for his Kansas town until they passed the anti-gay marriage law. Not only was he pissed off on behalf of the town's gay population, he points out all the ways these anti-gay-marriage laws are coming back to bite everyone regardless of orientation. Such as unmarried hetero women who lost protections against their abusers, and people of both genders blocked from holding medical power of attorney.
Next, a Baptist pastor testifies regarding gay marriage in South Carolina. Not what you think. Someone should read this speech everywhere the question comes up.
ETA: Oregon just struck down the same-sex marriage licenses that had been handed out, nullifying 3,000 marriages. James Dobson's reaction was "Throughout human history, marriage between one man and one woman has served as the foundation of civilization."
Dude, have you read your own Bible? It has polygamy and concubines in it. That doesn't come under "one man and one woman."

Remember those beaded rope tassels I was talking about? Last night was an emperical study in the difference between knowing the theory and having the skill. Still, I got one made and will have another made by the end of tonight, so I can at least show people at the Team Wench walk what I'm talking about. (And have a couple on hand to identify my stuff!) Tonight I try a different way of trying to fashion it. If it works, it will be easier to do and easier to teach - but it will still require a stiff piece of cardboard, a series of bulldog clips, and a power drill, so not the sort of craft you'd call "portable."

Date: 2005-04-14 04:14 pm (UTC)Actually, I put a cuphook in the drill and am using it to twist the floss so it'll do the rope trick. Twisting by hand would take forever; twisting by drill takes about 3 minutes and it's all nice and even.
