File under: No Good Deed Goes Unpunished
When I was first told that the friend of a friend was culling her books and would I be interested, I was told it was about 30 books, maybe a few more. When I told the woman donating that I'd take what I didn't want to The Book Thing, that inspired her.
Which is why I spent this morning ferrying 39 grocery bags and 11 booze boxes full of books. From one of those snotty condo places that won't let you bring carts in. Handcarts, from which the bags tumble very nicely, dropping the books into puddles, but not shopping carts or my own wheeled cart. (It took two trips, but I must say on the travelpod's behalf that it held all 9 boxes and about 20 of the bags in one trip. The Yaris hatchback has more room than you'd think.)
I am going to charge a bit of a portage fee - she set all the Star Trek books aside for me, and I saw a couple of others going by that I'd like to have - but I'm going to have to make a run to the Book Thing tomorrow morning just to get room in the living room again!
