"You're here so I don't kill him," Mother said today, but both she and Dad were almost paralytic with giggles at the time. Dad makes a horrible patient, it must be admitted. Not that he's crabby or anything, but he also wants to do things his way and Mother wants to make sure he's following all the rules. She's also a bit fussy that he's sleeping on her side of the bed, but pointed out that after 50 years she had a right to be territorial.

I also took Mother to the store in my new car. She's grateful I got her out and about, to the store and on her walk, (and brought in heavy loads of groceries) but it is like driving Hyacinth Bucket. Which I said out loud after she reminded me about the clearly visible stop sign. The car is probably going to be named TARDIS, as she did not believe I could get all of the groceries into that tiny little pseudo-trunk... and I did.

I am taking their crockpot home. Dad bought it to play with and has made nothing. I made lemon chicken in it for dinner. I've promised to bring it back with tested recipes. I'm probably going to fob off one of my 3-quarters on them instead. Continuing the child-as-human-disposal theme, I am also schlepping off several things they don't want anymore and was fed for lunch all the stuff in the refrigerator he can't eat and she doesn't want.

In fannish news, all I've got to say about the reported spoilers for the regeneration are:

1) I wouldn't believe the Sun if it printed that grass was green and the sky was blue.
2) Sounds like... every other finale RTD's written, actually. So either the Sun shuffled around old script pages or there won't be any surprises because we've seen it all. (I have seen a fannish theory that is plausible and quite shiny if it happens)

I'll miss David but I'm quite ready for the Matt and Moffat show, thank you. However, I still want a canonical Donna fixit. I will put up with quite a lot of nonsense and retreads if I get a canonical Donna fixit.

PS - have apparently lost the MediaWest room lottery. Which is firming up my resolution that I may have to live in a cheaper hotel somewhat down the road (if I can find one).

Have they even sent out notices yet? I don't know anyone who's gotten one.

According to the M*W lj comm, people started receiving them a few weeks ago. The envelope had the new name, but the letter still said Holiday Inn.

Hee. My car is a blue Mini Cooper, license plate reading "VWORP". Our cars can be buddies!

Huh... I wonder if anyone's claimed "VWORP" for my state yet? That would be cool.

Or Type 40

I'm pretty sure that would be me. :-)

That, I don't know. But it's pretty easy to check from the DMV website (where you used to have to send in a form with like your top four choices, but now you just type it in and it tells you immediately if it's available or not).

*checks your profile* Not if your wishlist address is current.

I love the part where it tells you immediately. That saves so much time and effort!

But alas, no customized plates in the cards this year. Have to be dealing with other cards first.

[looks at wishlist] Oh, good grief, that was left over from when I was living overseas and having things shipped to my parents' address. I've updated it now, but the bottom line is, unless you're in a different bit of suburbs than I think, we are in fact practically neighbors. :-)

Not quite neighbors, but close; I'm inside the Beltway nearish Greenbelt.

Well, if the plate is taken, I may yet steal the name; it suits my little car!

"Child as human disposal theme", Funny- I know that one well, you don't even need to hum any bars...

So- I should find a way to order one of those window clings for you? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=360130200613 (Would only make sense... as I want a set for myself! )

I want a set, but I'd be happier if they clung to the inside, not the outside.

Wonder what they would look like if you turned them around and stuck them to the inside of a window, instead? I may have to buy them just to experiment! :D

It's a symmetrical pattern, so it may not make a difference. You have a point there...

Exactly.

OTOH, if he gets *all* the Children of Time in, I will unabashedly squee. I'm shallow like that.

My parents aren't at that child-as-disposal stage yet, but my father always wants to feed me when I'm home. Thankfully, he sticks to his specialty--fried fish, usually caught that day.

Dad doesn't cook much. But he did give me the T-shirt the surgical team gave him.
