At this point I don't know what's more entertaining, the depth of Orly Taitz's delusions or Judge Land's turn of phrase.

To recap: Taitz, a dentist/lawyer (she's running both practices simultaneously) is one of the most news-friendly birthers, people who believe that Obama isn't President because he's not a natural-born citizen. (Her cited reasons for this include that the Hawaiian birth certificate is false, that "natural born" means both parents have to be citizens and his father wasn't, and an AOL poll. I'm not making this up.)

Her modus operandi is to file on behalf of soldiers who don't want to go overseas claiming that Obama is not Commander in Chief and thus cannot command them. Her latest case took her against the well-spoken and short-tempered Judge Land, who isn't having any.

He ruled against her, thoroughly and wittily, and told her to stop filing frivolous lawsuits.

She claimed he was a traitor under Obama's control and compared herself to Nelson Mandela, filing a second motion on behalf of her client (who didn't want her anymore).

He told her she had two weeks to tell her why he shouldn't sanction her for continuing to file frivolous claims. On the 14th day, she filed another claim saying she needed more time and ordering him to recuse himself.

As the Questionable Authority Blog puts it, Land recently ordered Taitz to show cause as to why he should not fine her $10,000. I suppose you could say that she succeeded beyond anyone's wildest expectations, because Land declined to fine her the $10K. She's on the hook for $20,000 instead.

Yup. 20 grand. As usual, the pdf of his ruling makes highly entertaining reading, not only containing the entire history of Taitz's shenanigans and listing the appropriate procedures, but also written in Judge Land's brilliantly take-no-crap style:

The court makes no apology for the tone of its previous orders. They were direct and strong, but apparently not strong enough.

She is claiming intimidation and says she refuses to pay.

expressing the opinion that he had a military mission to conduct in Afghanistan and did not need any distractions associated with a reservist who did not wish to serve. Translated: if you send him to me, he will endanger my people and probably get himself shot by friendly fire, so you keep him, mmmk?

I do hope Counselor Taitz wasn't expecting to skate on that $20,000. Because she will pay it, one way or another...

She will, but it's only going to feed her persecution complex.

getting her toes painted probably feeds her persecution complex.

Eventually, she will bankrupt herself in fines, and all she will have accomplished is to feed the government coffers and hurt the credibility of the campaign she claims to champion. Good riddance.

I think she may get some help, but I doubt that she's going to get enough for her to get what she wants. And as she gets squished, she's going to be screaming persecution all the way...

She won't pay it -- her nutjob Birther friends will take up a collection and pay it for her, or a single benefactor will.

Well, you know, I work for a collections attorney. With counsel in California. I was thinking it might be amusing to, oh, I don't know, attach her dental and office equipment. With a cop standing in her office preventing her from using any of her equipment until either she pays up or the gov't auctions off her stuff. Could be most amusing.
