NBC screws up Olympic coverage. Again.

NBC screws up closing ceremonies. In other news, water is wet.

In theory, they're showing the closing. In reality, it's ads mixed with "and our team won this medal! And that medal! And this other one!" At this point, I'm starting to think that we will get no part of the actual *closing ceremonies.*

Yeah, they are hyping it as the CLosing Ceremonies, but my DirecTV guide tells me it's something called "London Gold". I'm showing that the ceremonies start at 7:30 central time, if that helps! Not that there will be any less commercials of course.

Hah hah, I saw it on CTV all cool and stuff... well, my niece did, and she said it was great.

Love being Canadian.

I'm watching something else until they actually start showing the ceremonies, but even then NBC probably won't allow me to do what I really want to do: listen to the music while muting Ryan Seacrest.

My schedule says the closing ceremonies start at the half hour, not at the hour. You're watching Olympics Gold.

EDIT: oh look at that. They started at 20 minutes after.

I'm not sure how much the actual closing ceremonies are going to make sense even given that NBC has been doing a hatchet job throught out the Games. I'm visiting relatives, and they turned on the tv right about the time the giant inflatable octopus showed up...

We watched it in the afternoon when BBC had it streaming live, with minimal commentary.

We then watched it again when NBC ran it.

Oh good god did they butcher it to pieces. One of the things that pisses me off is that they cut out the section where the Men's Marathon runners were given their medals, something that typically happens at closing ceremonies. The Ugandan won gold, first time Uganda's won anything in 40 years, and they skipped it entirely.

They cut out entire swaths of the ceremonies, and then postponed an hour of it until after they'd showed their latest sitcom and the news.
