Choices are hard! I commend you for making one. :-)

May I recommend that instead of painting brown over the white, if possible you strip the white paint and re-finish the wood molding in a dark stain? (I happen to think wood finish is nicer than painted wood - but of course one has to get used to the fact that other people's tastes can and do differ from one's own. :-) So I suppose by "may I recommend", what I mean is "let me urge you to consider, in case two years from now you'll wish you hadn't settled for paint". Heh.)
