In which I buy cookbooks. Unsurprisingly.

I have a thing about cookbooks. A thing that M thinks should land me on Hoarders, only they're all shelved. In the two full-length bookshelves it takes to hold them.

Anyway... I bought Vegan Cooking for Dummies because the whole vegan part of VVO is still eluding me. Especially after bringing home an entire bag of vegan cookbooks from the library, I still found more interesting vegan recipes via a close reading of a Jewish cookbook I already had.

I bought a Nigella one because I'm slowly collecting the entire set.

But the one I think I'm going to have the most fun with is Southern Living's Off The Eaten Path: Favorite Southern Dives and 150 Recipes That Made Them Famous. A lot of the recipes need pre-made processed food, but even so this is exactly the kind of quirky that acts like catnip on me. I am going to find reasons to make the apple walnut bourbon chutney! And a simple substitution should turn the Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Oyster Mushrooms with Sherry vegan.

But there are a surprising amount of lobster recipes from these supposed "dives."

Also, tomorrow after the JASNA tea, I'm going to try a new thing. If it works, Martha Stewart will have seriously changed my life and eating habits. (If it doesn't work, I'll've ruined $4 of linguini and baby spinach, so no real biggie.)
