I'd heard of him before, but this is a far more complete article (and I'll have to go looking for the documentary and check out the TED talk).

I've been slapped in the face with my own first-world privilege and yet I can't stop grinning about Arunachalam Muruganantham.

What a terrific story. I'm impressed that he kept going even after losing so much because of his obsession, however meritorious. If there's any truth to the Hindu belief in karma, he's earned more than a few steps up the ladder.
