Two random thoughts

Random thought #1:
Wow, that Mansfield Park audio adaptation I looked so forward to is crap! Even I, having never read the book all the way through, can still spot the important gaps in the abridgement, and there's none of the sparkling charm of the Jane Austen Classic BBC Radio adaptation that I bought at JASNA last year - a version so very beguiling that the last time I listened to it, I was prompted to go out and buy Mansfield to give it another whirl. The green goose defeated me, but now that I've found out what the heck that *is* I'm going to try again.

Benedict Cumberbatch, Julia McKenzie, and David Tennant regardless, this is not an adaptation that would inspire me to tackle the book again.

The infinite relief at not having to paint the kitchen cabinets and drawers myself is absolutely worth 1/2 a month's paydown of the furlough loan. Maybe I'll make up the money later in the year; maybe I'll pay off my debt in January. Either way, a job I'd been dreading and putting off is going to be done by the end of the weekend, and not by me, huzzah!

Yes. Sometimes it is absolutely worth it to pay someone else to do the job. Russ & I were just discussing the other night how much better it is, and in how many ways, now that we actually have enough money to pay someone to mow the lawn every month or so. (It's not done by contract; this guy is an independent, and he knows to come knock on the door when the lawn is starting to look scruffy.) Russ has difficulty finding the time to do it, and so it gets pretty bad; this guy does a better job in less time than it would take Russ, and that frees him up to do more important things.
