Back in Time for Dinner: TV and Food History

I have just discovered Back in Time For Dinner, where a British family basically eats their way from the 50s through the... 90s? 00s? at the rate of a year a day.

It's absolutely riveting; not just the changes over time, but the cultural differences. (ZOMG, rationing lasted HOW long?!!!) Seeing kitchen gadgets advertised as "how American housewives stay young" almost made M and I fall off the couch laughing, but I am staggered at the things that we took for granted here that apparently weren't there at all. Like ice boxes. Before the fridge there was the ice box here, but apparently not there. Or the dripping. I'd heard of "bread and dripping" but never seen it, and apparently frying it was Just Not Done. (Lemme tell y'all, bread fried in bacon fat is some kinda yum.)
