2) Name some still-famous female detectives, preferably from the 30s-50s. (This is for a review I'm working on.)

this page has a list (http://www.wright.edu/~martin.kich/DetbyProf/Female.htm) of female detectives... I can't think of any specific names outside of that. No. Wait, Tommy and Tuppence Beresford were a couple in Agatha Christie's books. Tuppence was the wife. Tommy was the husband.
