Two quick mid-book reviews:

The Stone Rose by Jacqueline Rayner: A Doctor Who 10/Rose adventure. Rather disappointing in comparison to her Winner Takes All adventure. This is far more rough and simplistic - *very* obviously a children's book and not that well told. There's almost none of the character stuff that made Winner so delightful. This was probably written before there was much "Tennie" to work with, which is part of the problem, so I'm going to give her another chance when her next Who book comes out in September.

The Secret History of the Pink Carnation by Lauren Willig. This is just sheer silly. Fun, glorious, unrepentant Regency romance/cloak and dagger espionage/bedroom farce silly, and therefore quite delightful. Don't expect depth, meaningfulness, or angst. Do expect to snicker a lot. A marvelous bubblebath and bubbly drink book.
