I assumed the bar was because he was writing it European style. Why it looks like a Z underneath, though, is more of a mystery!

Then again, I notice that he's spelling his name at several letters short - doesn't that look like "Joh Barrn" to you? (I suppose it could be worse. I swear Scott Wentworth's signature looks just like "S Hubert" every time he does it.)
