I don't think it will kill it completely. There's too much that isn't knitting.
That's why I'm willing to start it at the same time as the shawl (which will be a complicated pattern). I can switch back and forth as I get bored.
The DVD is called 1 Minute Workout: Minna Lessig Total Body Toning. I tried a few of the workouts on the On Demand service from Cablevision, and I found her the least painful trainer of the ones offered.
You can also choose the level of intensity and the area you want to work (upper body, lower body, abs, total body). The only equipment it uses is two sets of hand weights (light and heavy). I think I've only hit one or two segements where I wasn't coordinated enough to keep up.
The only problem I have with it is that you have to run the warm ups and cool downs separately even for the fast track segments.
