Revenge of the Rodent

I noticed that Micky and DB were taking a particular interest in a corner of the living room today. A *very* particular interest.

But just because the cats were staring at something didn't mean that the mice were back, did it? There's been an exterminator and everything, and no sign for ages! It's not even too hot or too cold to drive them inside.

I grabbed a flashlight and started moving shoes (it was where we both throw our shoes as we come in. Yup. Mouse. It was gone by the time I came back with something to catch it in, but the cats were still riveted to the spot, so I thought maybe it had just gone where I couldn't find it. I pulled out more shoes. No mouse. I started shoving the shoes back, toeing them under the edge of the cabinet to make sure the area was blocked off.

Micky came to high alert and reached out a paw. Yes! I thought. She's spotted it! She's going to get it!

She delicately batted at a loose shoelace.

My cat, brave killer of the Keds. Oy!

And now I'm off to compile what is probably a Very Scary edition of Who Daily.

I once captured a mouse running through my bedroom - it ran mere inches past my sleeping cat's nose and she completely ignored it...

I'm glad to say she's got a lot better at catching them these days - perhaps a little too good, although she never eats them - just throws them in the air and plays with them until they die of fright.

The only time Mickey got one, she carried it into a more cluttered room and let it go again. She's Missing The Concept in spades.
