I've always steered clear of this series, mainly because of the religious angle, but also because of being nervous about the genre cliche of falling in love with the police chief. I have the first two now, though, as free downloads, so will give them a go. I've read the first 20 or 30 pages of the first one and am not hooked yet, but will persevere *g*.
