BWA!

A mother complained about a school's traditional cross-dress day, on the basis that it promotes homosexuality. The tradition was called "TWIRP Day" and I definately agree that there's a twirp involved in this story.

However, this has spawned conversations about exactly what constitutes male and female clothing. Eventually [livejournal.com profile] copperwise came up with this brilliancy, which ended up on [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes:

"I just took a quick inventory.

My dress is definitely female, but she's bi-sexual and submissive. My shirt, on the other hand, is female and completely straight. My bra appears to be male and gay, my shoes are male but bi-curious. My panties are female, and militantly lesbian.

My earrings refuse to answer the question.

Right now they're all engaged in a debate as to whether or not my bracelet has sold out to the Patriarchy. Will have to get back to you on that."

*cackles madly*

Okay, the laugh definitely counteracts the "Jeez, give the hicks an inch and they'll take a frigging country mile" reaction to the article. *cue rolleyes*

The Woman Is Requested To Pay. IOW, Sadie Hawkins Day by any other name. Oh, the horror!!! *rolls eyes*

People scare me. Except for [livejournal.com profile] copperwise, who is a genius.
