It begins

My parents are coming down this morning (checks watch - they're probably already on the road.) Dad is to check into the hospital today. Tomorrow they run tests (invasive enough to require sedation) and Wednesday is the operation.

Both my Dad and my brother called last night. My Dad has realized that the rest of the family has a vested interest in what happens and sorta regrets telling my brother not to come. (Since Dad called second, I don't know what R's thoughts are on this.) My brother has decided that even if our parents are overwhelmed, that's no reason for us to not get presents for each other and them. Which - yay, presents - but also - erg, Christmas shopping in December.

Complicating this is the fact that I'm the only family member who believes in Amazon.com wishlists. R says he's going to send me his list via email by Friday.

Neither one of us has any idea what to get our parents, but I keep hoping inspiration will strike. Soon.

This is sort of out of nowhere. I've been reading your journal because you review mysteries and I just kept reading :P So I have read about your dad and I'm not doing laundry right now so I wanted to say that I hope everything goes OK with his surgery. My father in law went through heart surgery two years ago and it was pretty stressful for everyone, even though it was a highly safe procedure for him to undergo. I hope that any worry you feel goes unfounded. :)

I hope on the whole you've been enjoying the reading. I ramble all the heck over in this thing. (But Reviewing the Evidence will be updated this afternoon, and I hope I can announce another of my reviews has gone up.)

I hope that any worry you feel goes unfounded.

Thank you. My parents are highly confident. I'm just nervous.

Good thoughts for everyone from this direction.
