Excellent notion

I thoroughly endorse Harold Pollack's idea regardless of where you live:
Want to fight terrorism? Learn first aid.

The truth is that everyday people are often the real first responders in public health emergencies, be they large and small.

Link includes jump to the American Red Cross first aid app, which gives people in the US the ability to get directions for what to do while calling 911. That's nation-specific, but one hopes each nation's Red Cross has something similar.

Where I went to high school you had to make a public speech and know CPR before graduation. (I mean you had to pass your classes too of course.)

Small thing, but emphasis in the right place I think.

I like the CPR one - I know a couple of people who would have flunked rather than speak in public, though!

Good idea. Just remember that, although they both have the right rhythm for giving CPR, "Stayin' Alive" is more encouraging, and less worrisome for spectators, than "Another One Bites the Dust."

I figure if I ever have to do it, I'll confuse the spectators with Black Betty (Bambalam)
