Ready for work and nowhere to go

They actually did it. Threw hundreds of thousands of people out of work to make sure millions of people won't get healthcare. I just went from having a big bonus and all my leave planned out through the end of the year to being out of work -- it's not just the Government that shuts when the Government shuts in this company town.

I'm sorry, but your goverment is INSANE!

I hear ya. My boss is in Arizona this week working for the feds. The trip was paid upfront, so he can come back, but he has no one to report to or approve anything, and who knows when or if we'll get paid or reimbursed for any of it.

What I can't figure out is how on earth they think this will HELP people... Oh, right, they don't.

Selfish little sods. I hope Mr. O makes them pay for their stupidity rather than giving in to their antics. They're rather like the 4 year old who holds their breath until they get what they want. Pathetic.

Funny thing is, the lengths to which these idiots are willing to go shows just how well THEY think the ACA is going to work. And how popular they think it's going to be with the people who use it.

I'm sorry this has happened to you. I hope they manage to pull their heads out of their backsides soon!

Hopefully it will be short-lived (but long enough to put the nails in all their fracking coffins).

My job is on government contract, too. I won't know until I'm in the office what, if anything, I'll be able to do.

And Republicans wonder why they lost the last election?

(Well, sadly, they don't seem to wonder, which says it all, really).

I hope the shutdown ends soon - without any capitulation on Obamacare.

This current temper tantrum has thrown me so far out of sympathy with even moderate GOPers, I'm halfway tempted to declare as a Democrat just to swell their numbers by one.

(for those not aware of my sitch: I'm a liberal but hate political parties as basic entities, since they're machines that work to feed themselves, not us)

Sympathies on the situation.

The Beltway bandit my mother works for hasn't thrown her out of work yet, but many of her colleagues haven't been so lucky; I'm sorry to hear you've been affected, too.

I hope the House manages to pull its head out of its ass soon, but I won't be surprised if these stubborn fucks try to drag this out as long as possible. I only hope it really comes back to bite them in 2014.

Sorry. This sucks.

I find the whole thing completely baffling - I keep thinking "how can this even be allowed to happen?" Sorry you're getting dumped on so bad. :(

I agree that this may have been the GOP's bridge too far. While I never call an election until Jon Stewart tells me to, I hope that the midterm elections are now a forgone conclusion, and I begin to have a tiny bit of cautious optimism about 2016.

Urgh, that sucks. I'm sorry.

Part of me is hoping that the Republicans will realize what a political misstep they've made, and will stop fighting a battle that they can't win, allowing this to be resolved quickly. However, that would require a hitherto unwonted degree of common sense on their part.
