Baking Demos

I just found out that there are two King Arthur Flour baking demos in my neck of the woods tomorrow; one during the day (pies and scones) and one at night (yeast and whole grains). I had planned on... well, hanging around the house and maybe writing, definitely cleaning up after the contractors (who should finish tomorrow). But getting out of the house is probably good for me, even though this theoretically free thing is probably larded with "buy our stuff!" in spades. I'm free: I've gone ahead and submitted my week's timesheet; leave (that I have not completely earned) through tomorrow. It seemed to be a safe bet that I won't be going in, although I will be checking as usual in the morning.

Speaking of cooking, I'm rather concerned at the weekend forecast. I specifically stopped volunteering for the Riversdale kitchen guild over the summer, knowing that I can't take heat, much less heat and open hearth cooking. It's supposed to be in the high 80s on Sunday, and I'll be standing over a fire. This is more than a bit Not Good.

Unless they've changed radically in the past 20 years, the King Arthur flour demos aren't terribly heavy on "buy our stuff" and they're good baking tutorials.

Glad to hear it!

I'm going to miss the first one - it starts in half an hour and the workmen are still here - but I don't eat much in the way of pies and scones. It's tonight that's bread and whole grains, and that I'm particularly interested in.
