The first one (you mixed up titles, BTW, it's She'll Never Live) doesn't sound like my cup of tea at all. I don't like horror, but it can be redeemed by interesting characters. From your description, these characters would all make me want to bitch-slap them inside of 10 pages. And I'm picky about my romances -- comes of cutting my teeth on Georgette Heyer.

The second one might be more interesting, if the author can avoid the Cat Who quagmire of having characters who are walking quirks instead of real people.

She'll never have a realistic romance, certainly. I'm learning to get wary of any book printed by that particular subhouse. They all have the same flaw - paint-by-numbers romance thrown illogically into some admittedly decent thrillers.

Not for those picky about their romances, as I am too, although more in the Austen/Dodd/Barnett manner.

There are other Babsons which are less quirky - I recommend Murder at the Cat Show - but this is a lesser entry in her corpus. Readable, even enjoyable, but lesser.
