Another Fic Recommendation

Lacey McBain's writing again, always a good thing. In case anyone shied off from the slash last time (stops, thinks about my f-list, snorts amusedly realizing that *I'm* the only one on it who doesn't like slash) - anyway, this has the barest hint of sex and even less slash. What it does have is some really rock-solid characterization; it's a Justice League character sketch. Work safe and well worth the reading.

Superman. Batman. The Flash. On my couch. I might never wash that leather again.

FWIW, you're not the only one. I don't do slashfic, either. :)

Slash isn't my default setting, although I can be persuaded. I am perfectly willing to Clex with the best of them. *g* But this story was freakin' amazing.

I don't do slash, myself...

BTW, is that the writer's real name or a pen name?

I'm not much with the slash either, so don't feel alone. This story... I'm glad I took the time to read it. Characterization is extremely important to me, and this one has it in spades! Though I'm obviously more than a little behind the times -- Wally is Kid Flash to me, to Barry Allen's senior partner. Liked the implication of the high-speed metabolism meaning he needs to eat all the time; that's an obvious conclusion, but one I don't remember having seen addressed before.

*sigh* If only there were more fanfic of this quality that I didn't have to wade thru Sturgeon's Swamp to find...

Thanks

I'll pop back and give a shout to everyone who responded. Thanks so much for the rec - again. I'm pretty much a slasher at heart, but sometimes the slash is pretty minimal because I'm also big on plot/characterization. I'm trying to think if there's anything else of mine you might like. If you like the thought of Bruce and Lex as kids, you might try my "Beginnings" series at Shadows and Stone. The stories there are all about when Lex and Bruce met at Excelsior when they were kids. Even the Dark Spaces stories don't have any sex per se, although they're a bit darker.

And I don't know how you are for other fandoms, but I write other things and sometimes there's not much slash. I have a Starsky and Hutch story that basically has one scene at the end that's about as mild as one can get. The rest is all plot.

Anyway, I'll stop trying to get people to read my fics now. *blushes* God, writers are terrible insecure people.
