...and now the fandom post

My fannish prognostication skills are sliding better than 50% with the announcement that there *is* no announcement of a Doctor Who movie at SDCC. That never passed the logic test with me - why announce a British movie with British funding and a mainly British audience at an American convention?

(For anyone keeping score, my predictions of "That's totally not happening" are wrong twice, right three times... although I still insist that the idea of Jack clinging to the outside of the TARDIS in flight is so ludicrous that no one should have been able to believe it... even after it aired.)

That's what I mean, I think it's interesting that she's speaking on the basis of definitely being in it and he's being cagier. Maybe they both know something we don't.

Right now, I doubt there's any ink on any contracts - or even any contracts. Just a lot of waiting and seeing and vague promises. I find it particularly pertinent that Neil Wilke's Digital Spy liveblog of the SDCC Who panel contains *both* a confident "I was told by insiders there would be a movie announcement and it would star X" and later on the same page "They have just announced that there's no movie being announced."

In other words, there's a whole lot of insider information being whispered... and it's all obviously worth the paper it's written on. (Which is why I'm taking the news of Torchwood's S4 renewal with enough salt to pickle me.)

I seriously think there's nothing solid to be known yet. However, I wouldn't be surprised if RTD told her that she's definitely in whatever happens; she's certainly the Rose of Torchwood and we know how well he could let go of her.
