Colbert/Stewart Rally PSA

Assuming that the rally permit is granted - and I am assuming that the rally permit will be granted - I'm throwing Holly House open as a crash pad for friends who want to come for the Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert shindigs on October 30. I'm planning on going, so shuttle service to/from Metro is included if we move as a group.

I can also pick up anyone who takes the bus from NY to Greenbelt & get you back to it.

Please note that there are 5 cats in the house.

However, I note that the permit was for 25,000 people. Really, guys? 25,000? You might want to adjust that....UP.

I love the idea of going, but the travel is a bit much for my budget right now. (Especially after the week I took to attend D*C.)

Steve & I are planning to attend. The good news is we're local; the bad is that incomplete renovations mean that we really can't put anyone up right now.

OT: BTW, we did end up rescuing that stray kitten I mentioned a couple weeks ago -- yeah, big surprise.

My husband was all over this the day it was announced. I believe the hotel is already paid for (I think we're flying to/staying in Baltimore), but I'd absolutely love to meet up with you either at the rally or elsewhere/elsewhen.

We're flying out Wednesday and leaving very early Sunday morning, so we'll be doing the tourist-y thing on Thursday and Friday (yay museums!).

By the way, do you know how you're getting from Baltimore to DC? If you're planning on driving, y'all may want to rendezvous at my place and we can take a mass metro migration, because I wouldn't bet on there being parking in the city on Saturday.

No, we're taking the train to Union Station. Well, one of the trains. I gather there are two; Amtrak and something run by the state of Maryland. Anyway, we're not planning on renting a car-- I, for one, am not volunteering to drive in DC. I managed not to get killed driving 150 miles a day, 7 days a week for 13 years in the mid-west. I'm not pushing my luck now. ;-)

I don't drive in DC either - last time I did, I parked in a legal spot and found my car ticketed for towing!

We can try to meet up at some point earlier in the week - like I said, I'll dust everything off when more is known than "Squee! I meet Ponygirl!"

So my dad's a dork. He opened his mouth before actually talking to my mom and she reminded him that they have a commitment that weekend.

So, yeah, I'd love to take you up on that crash space. :)

The cheapest flights, obviously, are on the weekdays, so I'm looking at coming out October 28th (Thurs.) and going back on Nov. 1 (Mon.) so I have a day or two to do some shooting since I'll be in D.C.

BUT, I don't want to strain your hospitality, so if that's a lot, or work makes issues for you or whatever, that's totally cool. Just let me know what *does* work. Right now, I have a lot of flexibility. I won't book my flights until I hear from you, okay? :)

Not a strain at all, although you'll have to either transport or amuse yourself while I'm at work. Best I can offer there is to lob you off at metro on my way out.

It's Washington. I'm *quite* certain I can entertain myself from dawn til dusk or as needed. ;) Have camera, can be busy. :) And a ride to the Metro on the way would be fabulous - from there I can manage. I love the Chicago CTA. :) (In fact, outside of Chicago, I think the D.C. system was the first public transit I was ever on. :)
