There's a company selling bowed psalterys at the Renfaire this year. They intrigued me enough to want one, but not enough for the price. Ebay was no better... until I misspelled it "psaltry" and found several listings that very few others had found. Clickety-click and I have myself a used psalt(e)ry in a leather case with bow and instructions.

There's probably sheet music out the wazoo on the internet if I just figure out how to find it, but until then, I went digging through my basement to see what I had left from my musical if misspent youth.

When I was a kid, I was in the church choir. That was where "The Genesis Songbook" came from, with Amazing Grace, Blowin' in the Wind, I am a Rock, I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing, Let There Be Peace on Earth, Little Boxes, and Mrs. Robinson.

When I was in college, Jr. year abroad, I had a dorm room with a western window. I bought a recorder and spent an hour every night watching the sun go down and trying to learn to play it. I thought it was peaceful, spiritual, and a whole bunch of other adjectives. 20 years later, I realize I was probably just annoying the neighbors, but I have "ABBA Songs for the Recorder" to remember it by. I'm sure with a little determination I can manage to learn Waterloo for the psaltery.

I'm not actually sure where I'm going with this post, except possibly a public confession of having been so 70s it's embarassing....
