In one of those classic things that you'd think doesn't happen anymore, my trusted local plumber recommended a guy in the neighborhood who does floors - who came this afternoon and quoted me a price that was half of the last quote I got, and for more work, too.

So I told Mr. Local Floor Guy that I'm looking for a painter. Can't hurt...
