Thanks for the suggestion, but no. The golden browns in the stone are too yellowish & fight with the reddish metal. Bronze could work, but no jewelry artists seem to be using it right now.
Malachite would work with copper, however. I do have malachite earrings set in red gold, which is close enough to see that copper would also work.
