It's a good thing I went down to get this recipe for you. I forgot I was supposed to be starting split pea soup in the crockpot for dinner!

New England Baked Beans (modified from Fix it And Forget It cookbook)

1 lb dried beans (I tend to use navy beans)
1/4 lb salt pork, sliced or diced
1 qt water and water to cover for bean prep
1 tsp salt
1-4 T brown sugar
1/2 cup molasses
1/2-1 t dry mustard
1/2 t baking soda
1 onion, coarsely chopped
5 cups water

1. Cook beans in water until softened, or bring to boil, cover, and let stand for 1 1/2 hours. Drain and dump into crockpot
2. Stir in remaining ingredients. Mix well.
3. Cover. Cook on low 8 hours or High 4 hours, stirring occasionally.

You can also add 1 cup ketchup or tomato sauce if you want it more tomato-y, but my New England grandmother would not approve...

This keeps forEVER in the freezer, and tastes even better over time.
