It's not usually Gregson that I spend an entire episode of Elementary wanting to hit with a brick, but wow, COULD he have been any more dismissive to Joan? I just about cheered when she muttered the bit about having a penis, because Gregson was checking off every single line in the "be a complete dick to the little lady" checklist, wasn't he?

He doesn't take "no" for an answer. He doesn't even HEAR "no," just bulls right ahead.

He mansplains that he knows Holmes better than she does. While I agree with his assessment of Sherlementary as an eternally needy man-child, Joan is perfectly capable of noticing this for her own self and has been making her own decisions of what she wants to put up with.

He avoids the "it's for your own good" words (and yay for that, because anyone reading this knows how well I react to THAT phrase) but he still implies heavily that he's trying to split Holmes and Watson up for her own good. The safety lecture is ever-so-slightly late, considering that already - and this is just off the top of my head and not looking at my notes - 1) her car has been wrecked, 2) she's been held at gunpoint 3) her employer has no sense of personal space, sets her up for financial obligations and chores without discussing them with her, thrown tennis balls at her, and (not directly related at her but at their mutual safety) set off explosives on the roof.

He keeps pestering her. Earlier in the season, I'd be hard on Joan for ignoring phone calls instead of taking some action -- she does have a tendency to avoid what she doesn't want to deal with - but how else is she to handle someone who has ignored her words?

Jerk!

Joan at least has had enough, and in spades. I appreciated her rant at the end.

I was amused to overhear a couple of people enthusiastically discussing the episode behind me in the line for lunch at work. Not a context where I expected Elementary to show up.
