Willful misinterpretation of him offering her the position of apprentice with, quote, ”a salary commensurate with the one you earn as a sober companion" followed by a whole conversation about how he could pay said salary without taking fees regularly from the NYPD? Followed by the groundbreaking advice for her to talk the idea over with others? Or willful misinterpretation of Gregson offering her a paying sober companion gig *specifically because he doesn't think working with/for Sherlock is safe for her* in this episode?
I'm not arguing that they're not friends. I'm not arguing that they aren't extremely attached to each other well beyond most friendships or mentor/mentee relationships. I've heard what he says to her and she says about him. But if someone is misinterpreting how she earns her paycheck these days and who it comes from and what paying someone is called, it ain't me.
Considering all the stuff I've written about my opinion of Joan and her relationship with her jobs, I didn't expect to get this reaction to a post that's entirely on her side.
