Safeway advertises the shingles vaccination. I don't know about costs and whatnot. Used to be the shingles vacc was for those of 60+, but I think (hope) they've lifted that restriction. K had a bout when he was about 50, but got prompt treatment so not too bad.
The shingles vaccine doesn't guarantee you won't get it, but should improve your chances and reduce severity, like the flu shot. May need a booster every ten years or so.
