A Bradbury Thanksgiving
Nov. 27th, 2003 03:08 pmVerbatim discussion from shortly after I arrived home this morning:
MOTHER: We're doing something different this year. It's a boneless turkey. They took all the bones out.
NEA: Ray Bradbury wrote a story like that.
MOTHER: Well, don't tell it!
I didn't. But every time it got handled (it had been trussed up so it still looked "right"... but it wriggled in odd ways) all I could think of was that story...
My father isn't sure about that turkey, my mother didn't like how the stuffing came out (well, serves her for monkeying with the traditional recipe!) but on the whole, it's been a happy day and an excellent feast. Hope it's been as good or better for everyone else reading this, and may we all have safe journeys home.
