mollyringwraith has Return of the King on DVD. Which apparently has a National Geographic special attempting to draw parallels between RotK and figures from history. Sometimes American history. (Which makes one wonder if anyone at Nat'l Geo ever said "You do know the original author was English don't you? I doubt he ever thought much about the Louisiana Purchase.") Anyway, Molly took that star-spangled ball and ran with it. Read the comments too; someone extended the parallel to 1776 and started rewriting lyrics.
