When I was a little girl, I loved long flannel and cotton nightgowns. I'd sweep around the house in them, imagining myself some historical damsel. Then I grew up and decided that sleep shorts were more practical - and besides, I could get my dressup ya-yas out in public in any number of costume-related venues (SCA, cons, renfair...)

This year I'm buying a fair amount of my ren wardrobe - I don't have time to sew, I have far fewer outfits than I thought, etc. And while I can't justify it in light of my sewing skills, I am justifying it in light of "well, these bloomers and chemises will be useful year round." Why?

I can sleep in them.

There's a new specialty weekend at the Maryland Renaissance Festival - October 16 & 17 are Shakespeare Weekend! I don't know all the particulars yet, but they're bringing in troops from all over the country and there's going to be a sonnet-a-thon.

Weekend passes are available and there are some hotels near site. Or (since I'm saying this pretty much to people who already know me), I'll likely be going most of the day for both days, so I can provide couch space/ferry service. (Heavy hint - BWI is a hub airport for several airlines, including Southwest.)

My latest review is up on Reviewing the Evidence. It's for Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Murder and I get my first mention by name on the intro page!
