Slightly PMSy decisions
Sep. 10th, 2004 09:55 amI have a beautiful painting of Death and the Death of Rats that I want Terry Pratchett to autograph. It was too bulky to take to Noreascon, but he's doing a signing in Tyson's Corners tonight.
However, I've decided not to go. Tyson's is over halfway around the city from here, somewhere I don't like driving off-rush, much less the height of Friday's road-choking exodus. I don't feel well - ( TMI ) And the ink is still wet on the three signatures I got last weekend. Knock wood, I'm going to have other times I can get that painting to him. (He told me at Worldcon that he deliberately picked 9/11 to fly home "because they'll be taking extra care that day.")
So it's my own decision to stay home, even if I'm being grumpy about it. Instead of hauling an irreplaceable artwork through rush hour and a distant mall, I'm going to finish covering the grommet holes on a black renfair gown that I've been ignoring for weeks. There are folks who are suggesting we all wear blue at fair tomorrow, but I still feel that mourning black is more appropriate.
Regardless of what color we wear, I'll join the memorial at 11:00 at the pubs. Rumor has it that all the pubs in several renfairs tomorrow are going to have a memorial toast at 11.
Sunday is the first post-Shore Leave STAT meeting. I'll be there to renew membership and find out why I'm still not getting the emails. And if this nice weather holds, I'm going to make myself useful by stripping and repainting the bathroom cabinet.
