After taking a moment to point out the irony that two of the people who vote for me to use my name as my LJ screenname don't use theirs, and with a wistful regret because Secret Identities Are Cool, I'm going to (surprisingly) take people's advice and switch this LJ over to the variant on my name that hasn't already been taken.

It's the one thing that I'm never going to outgrow or change. It's not going to make people wonder "Who the frick...?" when they see their new f-list, even the ones who aren't keeping up on their LJ right now. (Actually, I think someone might, but hopefully he'll keep up.) And when I contact people off-LJ, they're going to know who I am without my having to sign "Me aka FGWriter."

The switchover will take place at some point before Monday morning. I will be clicking the option that is supposed to automatically change all references (including F-lists) to the new journal. And I'll post again when the change is made with FGWriter in the subject so people should be able to catch up.

When 'tis done, then 'twere well done quickly.

I'm surprised how sorry I felt not to be going for a Secret Identity. But if I've put my face on the thing, if an idealized face, then I can put several syllables of my name on it as well. Courage of my convictions and all that.

Off to double-check that my f-list made it through and to tell Gin who I am, since she's already got dozens of LJ friends she's probably barely keepinng track of.

BWA!

A mother complained about a school's traditional cross-dress day, on the basis that it promotes homosexuality. The tradition was called "TWIRP Day" and I definately agree that there's a twirp involved in this story.

However, this has spawned conversations about exactly what constitutes male and female clothing. Eventually [livejournal.com profile] copperwise came up with this brilliancy, which ended up on [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes:

"I just took a quick inventory.

My dress is definitely female, but she's bi-sexual and submissive. My shirt, on the other hand, is female and completely straight. My bra appears to be male and gay, my shoes are male but bi-curious. My panties are female, and militantly lesbian.

My earrings refuse to answer the question.

Right now they're all engaged in a debate as to whether or not my bracelet has sold out to the Patriarchy. Will have to get back to you on that."
