Taken from [livejournal.com profile] butterflykiki:

What 'ships would you drop everything to read fic for, right now? (The original meme asks for 10, but I could only think of 5.)

For me:
1 - Batman/Wonder Woman (animated universe)
2 - Wolf/Virginia
3 - Sam/O'Neil
4 - Dorkverse Sam/Daniel
5 - Sun/Jin (I want them back together, even though Jin and Michael are *so* picking out curtains.)

And special credit to the OTP I've seen in someone's icon - Greebo/Prof. McGonegall. I'd love to see someone take that one on!

From [livejournal.com profile] ljforchoice: This is the hidden agenda behind the Schiavo case. The argument is being made that heartbeat=life, not brain=life. And also that maternal health and even fetal health are subordinate to forcing a woman to give birth.

Federal lawyers cite the Hyde Amendment and a Tricare regulation that specifically denies payment to terminate anencephalic fetuses.

In 2003, the government lawyers also cited moral arguments for denying military medical coverage. Prohibiting federal funding of abortions "reflects and effectuates a moral judgment to value all human life, including the life of an anencephalic infant."

Life is so damn precious that it has to be born just to gasp and die. Nevermind what it does to the mother's body and emotions, there's a one in a trillion chance that the baby might live in a coma instead of die immediately. And hey! That's life and Life Is Good!

I forget where I saw the comment this morning, but the content has stuck with me - y'know the old thing about trials, where if the law is against you, thump the facts; if the facts are against you, thump the law? Someone has pointed out that in Radical right politics, if the Constitution is against you, wave the Bible while if the Bible is against you, wrap yourself in the flag.

Yup.

I'd metaquotes that if I could just figure out how!

This started with zipper pulls. I got a catalog that had a variety of zipper pulls and I bought a couple of pink ribbons to be attached to my travelling luggage. Anything that helps it stand out when everyone is carrying the same thing, y'know?

But ever since I put the order in, I've been thinking of all the times when everyone is carrying the same thing but zipper pulls aren't quite enough - mostly conventions, when we all have the same tote bag we got at the door. Now, yeah, writing my name on it somewhere adds a certain amount of primitive personalization, but that's really not enough to be able to recognize your own from the pile in front of the art show door.

The solution, I've decided, is to make something. Something that can be quickly and easily clipped to any size of tote handle/shoulder strap but won't pop off just as easily. (I'm thinking of a carbiner clip.)

But I'm stumped about what to put on said clip. I don't want something so big that it would get in the way, so scarves are out. I don't want something delicate that can't be slung around and battered, so beadwork is out.

On the other hand, I do want something that is easily seen, so small charms are out.

So the question becomes - what do I attach to the clip?

I'd rather not buy anything, so if it's something I can scrounge or make, like something embroidered or a tassel or two, that's preferable to something I'd have to buy, like novelty keychains. I don't mind if it makes a little noise, but I don't want it to be loud enough to be annoying. I'd like it to have a little more style than the average luggage tag

Ideas?

(Yes, I am between deadlines at work again...)
