Is there anything extra-special fancy worthwhile about the Riverside Edition of Chaucer? I ask because that's the version that they call for in the "Required Readings" of the Teaching Company "History of the English Language" course, but I can't see why I should pay all that when I can get cheaper copies of other publishers' Complete Chaucers... or probably pull the text for the referenced sections from offline. (I note with faint amusement that although this course is copyrighted for '98, most of the materials quoted come from the late 70s through the early 80s - well before Project Gutenberg existed, and from where I will probably be pulling most of the older readings.)

I was just going to post a funny link, but then I read my f-list...

I'm leaving the funny because you're about to need a good laugh: BollyWHAT? is a gateway site for the non-Indian to understand Bollywood films. They have a highly informative FAQ for Bollywood movies. Now they also have a Hollywood FAQ for the Indians. "Why are their movies so short and simple?" "Why do they starve the actresses?" For the non-Desi, it's a snortingly funny "through other eyes" moment.

And there are people who really need to learn to look at themselves through other eyes. Or just remove the log from their own: Christian Coalition calls for gay people to wear labels. Something in a tasteful yellow Star of David, perhaps? (Is Godwin's Law even applicable when the people you're commenting on do something that only Nazis did in modern times?)

Is anyone passing by my house on their way to/from the meeting on the 19th? Am trying to deliver the raffle baskets to Joy.
