Censorship makes you go blind
Sep. 27th, 2005 09:01 amThe title is taken from one of the bookmarks I got at the National Book Festival this weekend. It's appropriate because this is Banned Books week.
It's also appropriate, because of a tiny little news article that I think will be kicked under the rug should be spread far and wide and loudly: [Michael] Brown told congressional investigators Monday that he is being paid as a consultant to help FEMA assess what went wrong in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, according to a senior official familiar with the meeting.
This is a week to challenge ideas and ideals, to talk about the unspeakable. So read a book. And participate in this participatory democracy - call your congressperson and give 'em an earful!
