Oy, with an extra side of Vey
Aug. 26th, 2006 09:56 pmIt's been a relatively good day on paper, if you can skip the parts about getting up at 5am and feeling either exhausted or stressed on most of it. At least at the end of it I have:
1) A running car. It took about 90 minutes for an AAA guy to come change the flat for the spare. (Yes, I could have done it myself. But y'know what? I pay AAA for crap like this and I'd rather get my money's worth than be all "I am woman, hear me change a tire" at O:Dark:thirty). And despite my hopes of just changing a few tires, the bad news is, Foresters are all wheel drive. When one changes, they *all* have to change!
2) The rent deposited. No story there, I made it to the bank. Huzzah.
3) New glasses to come. I really wrestled over this, having fallen in love with two sets of frames. I finally went for the ones that were lighter in tone and had slightly smaller lenses, although the larger ones that matched my hair were really spiff. They say that they'll arrive next Thursday, in time for me to adjust and take my spanking new progressive transitionals to Stratford. (I've never had transitions before. This is going to be interesting.)
4) An "SG-13" RPG. Fun game. No whining there.
5) A working laptop. This only took decanting the one I bought yesterday, discovering it was DOA, calling their service number (props to Averatec, which had me talking to a human being within a minute), *confirming* it was DOA, trying to return it to the store where I got it which didn't have one, but called ahead to another branch where they not only had one left, but the manager decanted and turned it on for me, getting to the branch, and making the exchange.
Tomorrow, I actually configure said laptop (nicknamed "TARDIS" as it will travel in time & space, natch) into the Desktop of Neassilon when I get back from the rennfaire. Also, set up the wireless LAN. Right now, I'm too damned tired!
