National Book Festival
The National Book Festival continues to be the only Bush program that has my wholehearted, enthusiastic support, and I hope the next First Lady keeps it up. Although I'm assuming that the rain was why there was no CNN truck with live coverage, nor some of the other side trucks, the crowds were enthusiastic and overwhelming. [livejournal.com profile] boogiebabe_smap and I went down and checked out the Pavilion of the States (many giveaways, whee! I still have to excavate my loaded tote) and listened to part of Kathy Reichs speech (where she said that TV's Tempe is a younger, earlier version of the book Tempe, and that's how she wanted it so Bones plot arcs wouldn't interfere with book plot arcs.)

Found a wonderful kid's book called Frindle, but didn't stand in line for 45 minutes to buy it there.

MDRF
It was the perfect day to hit the Rennfaire today; not too hot, not too cold, not too sunny. There were crowds out the wazoo for the Medieval Babes (I got the latest album and had it signed); even though they were put in the largest theater there was still a ring of standing room only crowds.

And on the side... this is the second time that I went somewhere and came home with a complete knitted project. I cast on my first mitered square before going to the Book Festival and it was finished (with no mistakes!) today and yet another freakin' Grandmother's Favorite washcloth cast on and about 1/3 done.

This is only encouraging me to keep up this sort of thing...
