Owww pt 3: The Orthopedist Strikes Back
Mar. 7th, 2007 04:14 pmDoctor Bullock (a genial, friendly man I recommend if you want an ortho who'll really listen and be reassuring) got the same look on his face that everyone else has when I mentioned I went to Laurel Hospital. After looking at their X-rays and examining my wrist, he was just bemused.
Neither he - nor I, for that matter; I'm the one who picked up the x-rays so I took a look - could find any fracture, no matter how tiny. Furthermore, Laurel had marked out a spot that was on the other bone and about 3" higher up than I actually struck for the site of their proposed fracture.
The final verdict? Bone bruise, although if I'm still in pain in three weeks he wants me to come back for x-rays done by him. He warned me that they could hurt for up to 3 months, but that I could do anything that didn't cause me pain, then made me a new half-cast that left fingers and wrist movement free.
I'm focusing on the fact that I can use my right hand again, and that I won't miss out on the knitting class that starts tomorrow night. Because if I don't, I'm going to have to think about how I missed the wake and spent that miserable day Sunday ALL FOR NOTHING!
I'd use my mood theme, but I'm not sure if I'm more relieved or pissed off.
