With my father in the hospital and a deadline looming, the Sunday Seven was well down on my list of things to think about. So no list. (Doubtless the f-list breathes a sigh of relief.) I did, however, DO it because I knew if I gave myself a week off it would be a disasterous precedent. So I went up to the office with a paper bag and filled it with old floppies, manuals for the equipment that had been thrown out, chargers ditto, a zip drive that rattled when you shook it, and the ilk. I didn't list or count, but there are more than seven things in the bag. (I was on the phone with [livejournal.com profile] shawan_7 when I did it, she can vouch for me.)

I may have to drop off Time and Chips, at least until the Doctor stops mentioning Rose every episode. I'm assuming that the writer's & producer's thought processes were that it was unnatural for the Doctor to stop mentioning companions the second they leave (and it was) and that since Rose was so important to a large chunk of the fanbase, the best way to bring in Martha was to have her charm the audience/Doctor out of thinking of Rose all the time. I'm not always happy how they handle that, but it's an approach worth exploring.

What I can't deal with are all the batchippers taking every reference as another proof that Martha will never be as good a companion, not to mention the straw-clutching belief that keeps coming up that Rose will return. There are two words that would sum up Billie's quick return to the show and they aren't "Romantic Reunion." They're "Career Suicide." Rose was a great companion, and she's going to remain a lot of people's favorite one. That's cool. But if every week is going to be a new wave of "See! See! Proof she was the best and she's coming back!" then I need to take a vacation until it's over.

Besides, am I the only one who remembers that the Doctor offered Donna the companion job within the same day as he said goodbye to Rose?

Looking forward, Freema's site has trailers for the next episode.
