Britpick question
Jun. 4th, 2007 08:44 amAre there skunks in the UK, particularly Wales? I want Ianto to reference something natural-but-nasty, preferably venomous, and I know y'all don't have poison ivy. Or rabid anything. (I, on the other hand, come from the country where if the fauna doesn't get you, the flora will. Poison ivy. Poison sumac. Kudzu, if you stay still too long.)
ETA: What I'm looking for is a Welsh version of this conversation: "But it's organic!" "So's poison ivy." (In essence, "I don't care what it says on the tin, don't drink it.") So far, it sounds like I can subsitute "sheep shit," "bog water" (which has, I think, a double meaning that would be quite nice although it would fly over the head of a lot of Yankees), or "nettles."
Eventually I'm going to get back to the story where Martha's holding the Doctor underwater, promise... but in the meantime, another plot bunny is gestating.
