(no subject)
Jul. 4th, 2007 10:07 amAlthough I appreciate the people who are truly celebrating by posting the Declaration and other writings by the founders today, my arm hurts, my hand hurts, the skies are too cloudy for fireworks, and my celebration is going to be liberating things in the basement from the tyranny of my possession. Or something.
IOW, I'm not in a particularly patriotic mood. So I meme instead, and pull out one of my two 1776 icons.
When you see this, post a quotation from 1776 in your LJ:
ADAMS (irritably): I won't be in the history books. It'll be you. Franklin did this, Franklin did that, Franklin did some other damned thing. Franklin smote the ground and out sprang George Washington, fully grown and on his horse. Franklin then electrified him with his miraculous lightening rod and the three of them - Franklin, Washington, and the horse - then went on to successfully win American Independence.
FRANKLIN: I like it.
