Sunday 7

Well. Eventful week. However, since it was punctuated by a holiday and I then went into the weekend with angst that needed to go somewhere, the Sunday 7 was the great winner because I combed through the basement.

That's my listing for the week - the entire basement. The sewing table at the bottom of the stairs, the old dresser full of crafting stuff, the top of the dresser, the top of the sewing table (up high by the ceiling; there are cabinets over it), the cabinets under the stairs, the shelves by the laundry area, and the back corner. Seven places instead of seven items. Some has just been thrown out (nobody's going to want a toaster that's been sitting uncovered in a basement and has cobwebs in it), some will be freecycled (oh, look, another box of bars of random soap), but the bulk is being donated to Prepare for Fair.

Oh, when the things set aside for Prepare for Fair are gone and I start cleaning (all along I've been clearing instead of cleaning, leaving detritus in my wake), I'm going to find new things to toss, I'm sure. (I could find 7 items in the office months after I originally thought it was "done.") But the bulk of it, the biggest "why is this still here?" stuff is now gone. So after the sale, I'll be able to start the cleaning and reorganizing with all the huge vistas of empty space that are opening up.

Today I'm meeting friends for breakfast for advice and sympathy - and then we're going to come back here and (since the basement got done) I'm going to ask them to help me go through my bedroom and the library, the last two rooms in the house to require a major purge. The library has a lot of stuff that has been set aside for ebaying - we'll be able to decide if it's worth my time putting it up to auction.

Fic rec: RTFM by Fionnabair. Serious cracfic. The words ‘last breeding pair in captivity’ were used and apparently there’s this thing called ‘fanfiction’ that has a sub-category called ‘slash’...

Not cracky but rather sorrowful is the Harry and Sarah old school story Substitute by [livejournal.com profile] orbythesea.
