I have two choices - cram Roman and Renaissance history in the next few days as if I was back in college studying for an exam, or treat my free time in Italy as if I'd just stepped out of the TARDIS - clueless, but willing to explore.

I think I'm going with the latter.

I'm also seriously pondering putting the nice clothes back except for one outfit and stuffing the suitcase with cheap Target Ts and skirts about to be relegated to home wear on the basis that it's more to throw out and thus more room can be made for purchases. Because I like the shopping, yes I do.

What? The President says it's our war duty. Or something.

Italy's going to be the acid test of this throwaway theory; if it works, that'll be what I do next time I go to London, as opposed to buying hideously expensive check-only luggage in Paddington Station. (The alternative for the next trip is to take that suitcase to visit home, but I really don't like checking luggage on my way *to* somewhere. I'd rather check what I carried on coming and buy/use a tote for a new carryon on the way back.)

Also, I'm amused to see that you can see pictures of the Barbie Memorial Suitcase at Amazon (exterior) and Luggage Online (interior). Neither picture really expresses the lollipop horror of the reality. Totally beat that price, though.
