From filkertom, a clip of David Attenborough talking about a Lyre bird. I knew about mockingbirds and have seen footage of one imitating cell phone rings, but the Lyre has them beat, imitating the cameras of the crew that's following it, a car alarm, and a chainsaw.

Via hildy, a Bones fan has started a comm called fake_dc (Motto: "It's metro, not subway, damnit!") for discussing all the ways the media gets DC wrong. Obviously, she's thinking Bones, but Scarecrow and Mrs. King had its palm trees moments, and we could talk for months about Die Hard. ("We only have enough fuel left for an hour's flight! That could get us anywhere from Toronto to Cleveland to Charleston and well away from this snowstorm, but instead, we're going to waste it all circling a civilian airport so that we can dump a violent political prisoner among civvies, because God knows, there are lots aren't any military airstrips in the area!")
